Official inauguration of the Route verte
Official International Opening – June, July, August 2007

The Route verte is a bicycle network extending for almost 4,000 kilometres throughout the various regions of Quebec. Over a period of more than 12 years, almost a thousand different organizations have contributed to its development. The official international inauguration of this route—the largest cycling network in the Americas—will take place in June, July and August 2007.

A key Route verte development partner since the outset, the Government of Quebec is of course associated with this summer's official inauguration activities. The companies PROXIM, a major network of independent pharmacists, and GAZ MÉTRO have also agreed to serve as official sponsors, allowing various events to be scheduled throughout the summer.

Quebec is about to receive many very welcome visitors. Our friends from Vermont (VerMontréal Bike Tour)), Ontario (Waterfront Trail) and representatives of major North American and European cycling organizations (International Mobile Forum) are coming to try out the Route verte.

On Friday, August 10, 2007, 25 town and cities across Quebec will celebrate the Route verte. The Domaine de Maizerets, in Quebec City, will be the setting for a major bicycle tourism gathering, as 2,000 Grand Tour participants meet up with numerous members of the region's cycling clubs.

Full details are available in the Schedule of Activities (48 pages), now available at all PROXIM pharmacies, most bicycle shops and tourist information offices. The full schedule is also available on line at www.routeverte.com.
