Setting out to explore Quebec
For the six participants in Destination Route verte•07, it's no secret anymore: the bicycle opens up new horizons and allows you to explore new landscapes! This 26-day tour, which began on July 16 and will end in Quebec City on August 10, is a great adventure—and an opportunity to savour the many fragrances and flavours of Quebec. It has also become an excellent opportunity to say Thank you! to all those who have helped to develop the Route verte at the regional level. August 10, 2007: All hail the Route verte!
At another time, all the church bells in the land would have rung out simultaneously... But on August 10, you will still be able to hear a mixture of bells, the sound of scissors cutting through ribbons and trumpet blasts all across Quebec, during the official international inauguration of the Route verte. Consult routeverte.com to locate the inauguration ceremony closest to your home. And if you want to be a part of something really special, attend the main event in Quebec City, which will coincide with the arrival of the 2,000 Grand Tour participants.

International Mobile Forum: a great opportunity to exchange ideas
Once the festivities scheduled for August 10 are over and done with, life will go on... And the Route verte will also continue to develop and improve. How will we ensure that the infrastructures are sustainable? What are the key ingredients of a successful tourism experience? How can greenways contribute to active transportation? What are best examples of effective signage along bicycle routes? These are just some of the issues that will be addressed by the group of Canadian, American and European experts invited to take part in the International Mobile Forum on the Route verte from August 5 to 10. To consult the schedule for the week and find out how to join one of the discussions, click here.
