Tourism cycling continues to grow in popularity throughout the province. More and more cyclists are choosing to explore Québec on two wheels over a weekend, a full week, or even longer! Vélo Québec Association, the organization responsible for developing the Route verte and a partner association for bikeways across Quebec, urges you to become the first choice for cyclists' accommodations by obtaining your Bienvenue cyclistes !TM certification today!
Bienvenue cyclistes !TM certification provides establishments offering bike-friendly services with greater visibility within the cycling community. The program covers three main types of accommodations: B&Bs, hotels and campgrounds.


How to obtain your certification:
Vélo Québec Association will contact you directly if your establishment is located within five kilometres of the Route verte. If you are more than five kilometres away from the Route verte or near another cycling route, you can get in touch with us to obtain Bienvenue cyclistes!TM certification.

The following criteria for hotels, B&Bs and campgrounds are designed to provide you with an indication of the basic certification requirements:

At B&Bs, hotels and other establishments (other than campgrounds):
  • A covered and locked space where bicycles can be stored at night.
  • If food service is available, high-carb meals with larger-than-average portions of fruits and vegetables.
  • A pump and tools for making minor repairs.
  • Information on local bicycle repair and rental outlets and regional tourist information centres.

At campgrounds:
  • Camping spaces for visitors with or without reservations as long as they are travelling exclusively by bicycle.
  • A sheltered location where touring cyclists can eat during bad weather.
  • A pump and tools for making minor repairs.

Taking "bike-friendly" to the next level
Some Bienvenue cyclistes !TM facilities have developed a range of related services, such as baggage transportation, or introduced little extras designed to meet the specific needs of touring cyclists. Others have teamed up with tourism and economic development partners or played a role in creating local bikeroutes. Each of these initiatives helps generate business and reinforce the Bienvenue cyclistes !TM brand among cycling enthusiasts.
